Auditorium
The Centre for National Culture has a proscenium auditorium available for hire for different social functions, arts and cultural events and business meeting. The auditorium can sit up to a capacity of three hundred depending on the layout and can be set up for theatrical presentation and lectures, seminars, conferences, receptions, theatre, music and dance events. Performing Arts groups, sound & lighting equipment, ushering and decor are also available upon request.
Art Gallery
Art Gallery’s collection includes an excellent selection of Ghanaian and African paintings and works on canvas, by renowned contemporary artists, with high points including paintings by Betty Acquah, KizitoAmartey. Other international aspects of the collection include an Iranian works, a selection of 20th century art, and the decorative arts collection, which ranges across textiles, ceramics and furniture. Collecting Ghanaian art is an important priority for the Gallery.
Craft Shop
This is a sales point for tradition handicraft and gift items. Artists producing wood, metal, bead and textile works are creditors at the shop. Their artworks are sold at a commission. It features a member of artists involved in handicraft production.
Open Air Proscenium Stage (Theater)
The Centre for National Culture has an open air proscenium stage available for hire for different social functions, arts and cultural events and business meeting. The Open Air Proscenium Stage can have a sittingcapacityof over five hundred depending on the layout and can be set for theatrical presentation and auxiliary uses, Performing Arts groups, sound & lighting equipment, ushering and decor are also available upon request.
Craft and textile market
The Centre further runs a large traditional textile and artefact market that hosts textile producers and suppliers who deal with carvings and other crafts. This market is gradually becoming the nucleus of a booming artefact export centre.
Textile and Weaving Section
This section is responsible for the production of Kente strip, batik tye and dye and other traditional fabric which are mainly supplied to the craft shop for sale. It is production unit, resource / educational centre. The section participates and demonstrate in several programmes within and outside the centre.
The Ceramics and Pottery Section
The Ceramics and Pottery section is mainly for production of pottery and ceramic wares. It also serves as a resource / educational centre for all categories of students and other people such as hobbyists, researches and students as they are taken through the rudiments and processes of pottery and ceramics through practical demonstration.
Exhibition Hall
This hall serves as the space for the monthly Exhibition programme dubbed “ARTISTS PROFILE”. This hall was set up to offer promotional opportunities for professional and practicing artists to exhibit their artworks solely or jointly. It used to be the NATIONAL ARTS GALLERY, housing collections of paintings from renowned artist like Ablade Glover, Kofi Antobam, AmonKotei etc. Until 2012 that the National Commision on Culture (NCC) secured a bigger space at the W.E.B Dubios Centre. Every exhibition either, solo or joint exhibition last for a month. This seeks to promote visual artists especially Ghana Association of Visual Artists (GAVA) members.
